About this event

The RVA Table Talk series creates opportunities for community members to learn about and engage in challenging conversations about diversity and inclusion. Each session focuses on a specific topic, and participants have the opportunity to share stories, perspectives, and ideas regarding issues facing their community.

This Table Talk program will provide an opportunity to learn about experiences of solidarity and allyship in difficult times. Our learning together will focus on several past examples of solidarity across different communities and lessons learned from those who’ve been involved in or impacted by deep allyship. A guiding concept will be the Garden of the Righteous Among the Nations at Yad Vashem. Following an opening presentation, small group discussions will focus on understanding the needs, barriers, and frameworks involved in being an effective ally, and brainstorm the ways in which we can apply the lessons of the past to creating more safety and connection for our communities in the present.

This session is made possible thanks to the Henry and Gertrude Kupfer Holocaust Education Fund and the Alexander Lebenstein Fund for Tolerance and Human Rights of the Richmond Jewish Foundation. It will take place via Zoom from 6:30pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, June 24, 2021. Registration is required. A private link will be sent to all registered participants prior to the event.
